Jan de Wet

Jan de Wet was born in Harrismith and matriculated in Potchefstroom in 1967. He studied for a degree in education at the universities of RAU and Potchefstroom and taught high school students in Namibia from 1973 to 1975. From 1975 he studied at the University of Stellenbosch, served as Chairman of the Student Council and obtained the degrees B. Theology and Masters in Theology and became a minister in the NG church of South Africa. He was pastor of a congregation in Somerset West where he lived from 1980 to 1989 and began an independent music ministry in 1983. Since then he has performed throughout South Africa as well as in a number of overseas countries such as the USA, Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands , Belgium, France, New Zealand, Australia and the United Kingdom as well as neighboring countries: Namibia, Botswana, Swaziland and Mozambique. He made his first CD recording as a singing and performing artist in 1967 and while he was a teacher and minister he was still actively involved in the music industry. Over the years, he has released more than 60 music albums (records, cassettes, cds, videos, dvds) and received numerous music awards. He is currently under contract with Sony Music and also involved in the singing group ‘Manne wat Glo’ which performs locally as well as internationally. Jan is married to Jeanette and has three married children and 6 grandchildren. Over the years he has served on various boards, published numerous books, successfully completed 10 Comrades Marathons and regularly leads groups to Israel. He is also organizer and leader of annual Motorcycle Tours to the European Alps.
