From 16–18 September, the Gospel Romah Church in Observatory, Cape Town, hosted the IC3 Africa Church Conference — a three-day gathering that brought together pastors, theology students, and church leaders from across South Africa and abroad. More than just an annual event, the conference became a sanctuary for encouragement, dialogue, and spiritual renewal.
Day One: Laying the Foundation
The opening day carried the anticipation of a new beginning. Handshakes, introductions, and worship set the tone for what was to follow. Through song, the congregation established a foundation of devotion.
Three speakers then shared powerful testimonies of faith, struggle, and grace. Their stories reminded attendees that behind every ministry is a personal journey, often marked by perseverance and hope. After lunch, breakout sessions gave participants the opportunity to explore specific topics. One session dedicated exclusively to pastors’ wives created a safe space for honest conversation, support, and connection.
Day Two: Deepening the Dialogue
The second day built on the first, with discussions moving into greater depth. A panel of seasoned pastors shared insights into their ministries and responded to questions from the audience. Rather than a lecture, this became a two-way conversation — a chance to hear directly about the challenges, triumphs, and lessons of ministry in diverse contexts. Attendees described it as both practical and inspiring, offering wisdom they could immediately apply in their own journeys.
Day Three: A Spirit of Kinship
By the final day, the atmosphere had shifted into one of genuine kinship. The panel returned, and participants spoke with more openness and urgency, seizing the last opportunity to ask questions, share burdens, and receive encouragement. Many expressed how vital it was to have such a space — a pause from daily pressures where they could be refreshed and reminded of their calling.
At the back of the venue, a marketplace of mission added another layer of connection. Vendors offered books, Bibles, and resources from faith-driven businesses, reinforcing the theme of equipping and strengthening the body of Christ.
More Than an Event
The IC3 Africa Church Conference was more than a date on the calendar. It was a refuge, a source of renewal for those who continually pour into others. Participants left not only with notes, but with renewed strength, fresh connections, and a deep sense that they are not alone in their work.
In a world where ministry can often feel isolating, this gathering stood as a powerful reminder: faith flourishes in community, and no one is called to walk the journey alone.
