In this broken world, hardship knows no limits, time, or place. Recently, a devastating fire engulfed a house in the Elsies River community, leaving three families and their children with nothing but the clothes on their backs.
The following Sunday, Radio Cape Pulpit received a phone call about the tragic situation.
Radio Cape Pulpit immediately responded as a community radio station and, through God’s grace, was able to purchase the necessities: everything from baby diapers and formula, cell phones, blankets, a month’s supply of food, toothbrushes, hygiene packs, school shoes and clothes, to toiletries.
Contributions from wonderful listeners were also collected. Each person’s needs were taken care of.
HGTS Transport Services provided transport for the Radio Cape Pulpit team to deliver all the goods to the community in Elsies River. Pastor Brian Sives from Golgotha Baptist Mission Church warmly welcomed and received the team in Elsies River. They spent time together with the people affected by the fire, listening to their experiences of the traumatic events.
The Radio Cape Pulpit team visited the burned-down building while the women told their stories of how walls and gates had to be broken to escape, while the engulfing flames destroyed all their possessions. Spending time with these families and seeing the pain in their eyes left no heart untouched.
Radio Cape Pulpit is grateful that its team could contribute to bringing hope for a new beginning to everyone affected by this devastating fire.
